The 2021 IPL final was contested by Chennai Super Kings
(CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR){csk vs kkr} on 15th October 2021 at the Dubai
International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
CSK vs KKR IPL Final 2021 is a thrilling encounter, with
both teams having talented players in their ranks. Chennai Super Kings, led by
the experienced MS Dhoni, have a formidable batting lineup consisting of Faf du
Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Moeen Ali. Chennai Super Kings had a very successful campaign leading up to the final, finishing second in the league standings with 18 points from 14 matches. Their bowling attack is equally
impressive, with Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and DJ Bravo leading the
charge.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders had a mixed
campaign, finishing fourth in the league standings with 14 points from 14
matches. However, they picked up momentum towards the end of the tournament and
won their last four league games to secure a spot in the playoffs. They had a
strong batting line-up led by Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, and Nitish Rana, as
well as a quality bowling attack led by Varun Chakravarthy and Lockie Ferguson.
In the final, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected
to bat first. They got off to a good start with their openers, Faf du Plessis
and Ruturaj Gaikwad, putting on a 61-run stand. However, they lost 3 wickets and
were restricted to a big total of 192/3 in their 20 overs. Faf du Plessis was
the top scorer for CSK with 86 runs, while Narine was the pick of the bowlers
for KKR with 2/26 in his four overs.
In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a solid start,
losing their first wicket at 91 runs in 10.4 overs. However, their batting order,
led by Nitish Rana, can’t hold their nerve and failed to take the team to
victory. Gill top-scored for KKR with 51 runs, while Iyar made a valuable
contribution with 50 runs, but it wasn't enough to prevent CSK from winning
their fourth IPL title. For CSK, Shardul Thakur destroyed the KKR batting order by
picking three inform batters, R Jadeja and Josh Hazlewood picked up two wickets
each and Deepak and DJ Bravo picked up one wicket each.
In conclusion, it was a well-fought final
between two strong teams, with MS Dhoni leading Chennai Super kings coming out on
top in the end.
